Hey Coach Coop. For some reason there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of hype about this year’s Heisman Trophy race. What’s the deal? It’s November! So who are your top three Heisman candidates? Joe B. from Marysville, Ohio

Hello Joe.
You sure said it. The main reason for this season’s lack of Heisman chatter is because last year’s winner and presumed favorite heading into this season, Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford, will not play another down in a Sooner uniform after he re-injured his shoulder a couple of weeks ago.
So all of Bradford’s Heisman hype has blown away like an Oklahoma dust storm.
Furthermore, though Florida is undefeated, quarterback Tim Tebow has not had an eye-popping statistical season.
Tebow, though, is my odds-on favorite because he’ll navigate the Gators to an undefeated season heading into the SEC title game. He’s such a great leader and Florida would not be the team it is right now without him behind center.
And then on top of Tebow’s lackluster statistical season is the underperformance of Texas quarterback Colt McCoy. McCoy is second on my list, however, because he’s just starting to heat up and I think he’ll put up some monster numbers during the Longhorns’ final-four stretch of games against some very weak competition.
Rounding out my top three is Alabama running back Mark Ingram.
If Ingram runs wild the rest of this season and plays phenomenally Dec. 5 in the SEC Championship, and Bama beats Florida, he just might very well supersede Tebow Dec. 12 during the Heisman Trophy ceremony.
