The Scoop: Prep wide receivers seldom possess the ability to run after the catch. The few and far between who do in fact harbor that rare talent become the most highly recruited pass catchers of their respective class. And you know what? The Ohio State Buckeyes sure lucked out in getting a verbal commitment from a wideout in Devin Smith who can do just that. Smith’s elusiveness and flair for making plays after the catch separate him from most other seniors in his class. And though he does not have many weaknesses, the one glaring problem Smith needs to address is strength, as he has difficulties breaking from jams at the line of scrimmage. Nevertheless, that problem can be corrected in OSU’s Woody Hayes Athletic Center. And soon seeing Smith in the Scarlet & Gray will bring back memories of former Buckeye greats Joey Galloway, Ted Ginn Jr. and Anthony Gonzalez.
