SAN DIEGO – He entered the NFL a Charger, re-wrote the record book a Charger, and in nine of his 11 seasons, to the chants of “LT!, LT!, LT!,” endeared himself to San Diego a Charger.

LaDainian Tomlinson, among the greatest football players this town has known, is ready to retire as one.

The franchise’s most prolific running back will hang up his cleats for good, signing a contract with the team Monday before immediately announcing his retirement at an 11 a.m. press conference.
