GREENVILLE, S.C. – Ohio State had a head start with Michael Hill, so when the Pendleton High defensive tackle committed to the Buckeyes Wednesday, it didn’t surprise Bulldogs coach Paul Sutherland.
“Ohio State was his favorite team to watch on television growing up,” Sutherland said. “It’s the ESPN age. When he was coming up, they had Troy Smith, the Heisman Trophy winner, and that run. He’s told me that since he was a ninth-grader and had no offers.
“I would have preferred him staying in state, but I am proud of him. I told him from the beginning, ‘In the end, you do what you want to do,’ and that’s exactly what he did.”
