SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco 49ers now have signed all their draft picks better than a month before the start of training camp.
Top-round pick A.J. Jenkins signed a four-year deal Wednesday for a reported $6.9 million. The signing came at the end of the team’s three-day rookie minicamp.
The signing also came with little fan fare. Coach Jim Harbaugh was in Peru building houses, and General Manager Trent Baalke was also out of town.
The signing of the first draft pick used to be a reason for press conferences and banner headlines. But the practice has become almost formulaic after last year’s collective bargaining agreement put strict caps on rookie compensation.
